Lena Horne
I’m gonna be honest: Lena Horne wasn’t my favorite singer. It’s just one of those “you say tomayto, I say tomahto” things. But after she died on May 9th, 2010, I came across a performance of hers I’d never seen, and found it extremely moving. It’s certainly not one of her greatest hits or a song especially associated with her. It’s just simple and understated, deeply felt, powerful and so full of meaning. In a word, gorgeous. Enjoy.
